Plays by Emma Reeves and Morgan Lloyd Malcolm nominated for Olivier Awards

Two plays penned by DHA writers Emma Reeves and Morgan Lloyd Malcolm have been nominated for 2020 Olivier Awards.

The Worst Witch, based on Jill Murphy’s classic children’s book and adapted for stage by Emma Reeves is nominated in the Best Family Show Category. Directed by Theresa Heskins, with music by Luke Potter, the musical stage production toured the UK in 2018-2019 before enjoying a West End run at the Vaudeville Theatre.

Emilia by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm is nominated for Best Entertainment or Comedy Play as well as in the Sound and Costume Design categories. Emilia was first commissioned by Michelle Terry at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre where it enjoyed a successful run in late 2018 before transferring to the West End Vaudeville Theatre in early 2019. Praised for it’s bold and fiery feminist message, Emilia drew a lot of press attention and Morgan is especially pleased it hosted the first West End Theatre Mother & Baby performance.
