Benjamin Myers says ‘the whole idea arrived fully formed, while standing in the middle of a corn field and wondering if I was having sort of psychic meltdown in the summer of 2019 (I think I did). I then wrote the entire book in 25 days, and a soundtrack has also been recorded too. I barely remember writing it; it was like a hallucination, which I then painstakingly edited over several weeks, in a cabin in a garden in a tiny village in the Scottish borders. I finished it the day before the UK went into lockdown in March 2020’.
