Second Shot

When the latest assignment of ex-Special Forces soldier turned bodyguard, Charlie Fox, ends in a bloody shoot-out in a frozen New England forest, she’s left fighting for her life, with her client dead.

Simone was young and beautiful and had just become a lottery millionairess, but she never lived long enough to enjoy her new-found riches. Charlie was just supposed to be accompanying Simone on a trip to the States to track down the father she’d never known. A low-risk job. Charlie is only too familiar with difficult family relationships, but even she was unprepared for the vicious secrets uncovered by Simone’s fateful visit.

And it seems there was plenty Simone wasn’t telling, not even to the person tasked to protect her. Now, frustrated by the slow pace of her recovery and desperate to know what went wrong, Charlie throws herself into trying to unravel the real story behind Simone’s complicated life and untimely death. But the closer Charlie gets to the truth, the bigger threat she becomes. Only, this time, she’s in no fit state to protect anyone, least of all herself . . .
