King of the World

Bridget and Diane are flatmates. Considering the ten year age difference they get on well – apart from the constant appearance of Alistair, Diane’s boyfriend – in the flat. They decide to look for another tenant and that’s when the trouble starts… Norah applies for the room. She says she is a battered wife and has run away from home. Against Bridget’s wishes, Alistair’s interference results in Norah staying, at least for a while, and gradually the lies she has told are revealed. She is not a battered wife but the mother of a mentally ill son and wife of a psychiatrist. Her husband thinks her son is a genius and blames all his problems on Norah’s smothering love, saying that she is the one who needs help. Unable to cope any more and in the hope that once she is gone her husband will face the truth at last, she has fled with devastating results that puts them all in mortal danger…
