Jason Allen-Paisant is a Jamaican writer, poet, and academic who works as an associate professor of Critical Theory and Creative Writing at the University of Manchester. He’s the author of two critically acclaimed poetry collections: Thinking with Trees, winner of the 2022 OCM Bocas Prize for poetry, and Self-Portrait as Othello, a Poetry Book Society Choice. His memoir, The Possibility of Tenderness: A Jamaican’s Search for Freedom in Nature, will be published by Hutchinson Heinemann in 2024. He’s the author of Théâtre dialectique postcolonial, and a second monograph, Engagements with Aimé Césaire: Thinking with Spirits, will also appear in 2024 with Oxford University Press.
