JUST LIKE MOTHER USED TO MAKE is a celebration of home cooking. It will take you on a culinary tour of British comfort eating and good old-fashioned food, from nursery staples like chocolate biscuit cake to family classics such as fish pie. Along the way, Tom asks why we all love the recipes we grew up with, what comfort food actually means and how, in the last fifteen years, it has become synonymous with junk food.

Looking back at the cooking traditions of our recent past, he delights in the simplicity of some of the recipes, giving anecdotes and explaining why these dishes have become so deeply rooted in the British psyche.
