Waterstone's Gala for McCall Smith

Alexander McCall Smith, author of the bestselling No 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series (Time Warner/Polygon), scooped the Waterstone's Author of the Year prize at the chain's gala dinner in Paris on 9th June. It was the author's third such award, following accolades at the British Book Awards and the BA Conference. Waterstone's has sold about 200,000 copies of the No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency titles.
