Jeanette Orrey wins at this year's Guild of Food Writers' Awards
Story Date: 8 June 2006
Jeanette Orrey wins this years Miriam Polunin Award for Work on Healthy Eating at The Guild of Food Writer's Awards with THE DINNER LADY, published by Transworld.
Miriam Polunin was a much-loved and respected member of the Guild who died in tragic circumstances in 2005. As she was one of the first food writers to succeed in communicating complex issues of nutrition to the general public and in conveying the idea that healthy food could also be delicious, the Guild has this year instituted this award in her honour. It goes to the writer or broadcaster who has contributed most to promoting healthy food, in whatever medium; the work may be specialised or wide-ranging, text-led or recipe-led.
