The annual Branford Boase Award recognises the most promising first novel for young people and marks the important contribution of the editor in finding and nurturing such talent.

Waves by Sharon Dogar and edited by Barry Cunningham (Chicken House);
Before I Die by Jenny Downham and edited by David Fickling (DFB);
Door of No Return by Sarah Mussi and edited by Beverly Birch (Hodder)

The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony held at Walker Books on 9th July 2008.
