Simon Hopkinson's ROAST CHICKEN AND OTHER STORIES, published by Ebury Press, has been named the most useful cookery book ever. The book, co-written with Lindsey Bareham, was described by the panel of chefs, food writers and consumers, who were conducting the survey for the Waitrose Food Illustrated magazine, as a "magical book" of "incredible value". William Sitwell, the magazine's editor said: "This is not about beautiful pictures or fashionable names and global TV shows, this is about fundamental usefulness. If you only had to buy one cookbook for British cooking, this is the one."
