June Knox-Mawer was a writer and broadcaster.
She was a presenter on Radio 4's Woman's Hour, and wrote and presented a number of documentary programmes. She was selected by the TImes as the Best Woman's Voice on Radio.
Her novel, SANDSTORM, won the Romantic Novel of the Year award in 1992. Her travel writing was also very well received, including THE SULTANS CAME TO TEA, A GIFT OF ISLANDS and A SOUTH SEA SPELL.
She died on 19th April 2006.
