Sam was born in East London in 1979. He graduated in 2000 from Warwick University with a degree in Film & Literature, and worked various jobs whilst writing his first script.
His writing career began when the resulting screenplay, the romantic comedy Who's Jennifer?, was one of the winners of the Times/National Academy of Writing competition in 2003. As of early 2008, Sam is working on a number of projects across film and TV, both solo, and in partnership with fellow Nicky Lund client Jonathan Brackley. He is based in London.

In addition, Sam is working on two solo spec comedy drama scripts, one about a crap detective, and one about a zombie. He hopes to finish these by the end of 2008.
