Sandra Guy was born in 1965 in Hong Kong where she lived until going to Bristol University to read English at the age of seventeen. After graduation she worked in advertising in London before setting up a theatre production company, Blood and Honey Productions, which put on a number of plays in the UK as well as running a children's theatre programme in Bucarest, Romania. In 1990 she joined The Cardinal Hume Centre, a London-based charity working with homeless people aged between sixteen and twenty-five. As the Research and Development Officer she set up a literacy programme as well as a half-way house for ex-substance abusers. After five years she fulfilled a childhood fantasy by moving to France to concentrate on her writing. Her adult pieces have appeared in literary magazines in the UK and in France. Her poetry for children has been published in the American literary magazine for teenagers, Cicada, and she has a poem in the forthcoming Bobbi Katz anthology due out from Dutton in 2004. Sandra is an active member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. She is on the board of SCBWI France, edits their annual newsletter and coordinates the SCBWI International Market Report. She currently lives in Paris with two black and white cats and a conceptual artist.
