Brenda Jobling was born in 1948 in Clapham, London. After school she studied graphics and advertising at Ravensbourne College of Art and Design, Bromley, before working in several London-based advertising agencies, firstly as a layout artist and later as an art director. She also did a spell freelancing as an illustrator and won two international design awards.
In more recent years she moved to copywriting and was fortunate enough to meet Gina Pollinger who helped her to get her first children’s book published. Since then, five more have been published by Scholastic – all in the Hippo Animal series. She is currently working on ideas for historical fiction.
She lives in Hertfordshire with her husband, two grown-up children and assorted cats.
