James’ acclaimed comedy series, based on the egotistical poet SIR RALPH STANZA, was broadcast on Radio 4 between 2002 and 2004. In 2005 he was selected as one of the first 2 writers for the BBC new Comedy Writer's Apprenticeship, as part of which he has been commissioned to write a new original script. James has also written for a number of radio shows including THE IN CROWD and was writer-in-residence at Strangeways prison in 2000. He is also well known as an actor and performance poet and has recently appeared in EARLY DOORS, SHAMELESS and FAT FRIENDS.

2005/6, 2000/2001 Writer-in-Residence at HMP Manchester (Strangeways)
Two periods as Writer-in-Residence funded by Year of the Artist, Arts Council & Writers in Prison Network. Produced pamphlets of prisoners' poems, RHYMES OF PASSION & LIVES OF RHYME, which won a special commendation from the Koestler Society.
