Suzanna Hubbard trained as an illustrator at the University of Brighton. Her influences are naïve and folk art and the classic children's book illustrators Ludwig Bemelmans, Katherine Hale and H.A. Ray and the great 1930's illustrators Bawden and Ravillious. Living close to the sea also feeds her love of painting seascapes and fishermen folk.
Suzanna's illustration work has appeared on greeting card designs, in gift books and has also featured in Homes & Gardens, Waitrose Food Illustrated and The Sunday Telegraph. THE LADY WHO LIVED IN A CAR is her first children's picture book which she has written and illustrated. It will be published in June 2003 by Pavilion and is inspired by a real life character. Suzanna would like to base her next story on the sea.
