Kady MacDonald Denton is one of Canada's foremost illustrators and winner of the esteemed Governor General's Literary Award for Illustration.

Kady graduated from the University of Toronto (Hons. Fine Arts) and studied at the University of Toronto’s School of Architecture. For a time she worked as a city planner and also as a stage and costume designer in Toronto. A move to Brandon, Manitoba, and a sabbatical in London where she studied at the Chelsea School of Art, were instrumental in changing the focus of her art to writing and illustrating picture books.

Kady has created several books for children, including the prize-winning A CHILD'S TREASURY OF NURSERY RHYMES. This won the Elizabeth Mrazik-Cleaver Award for best Canadian picture book, the Amelia Frances Howard Gibbon Illustration Award and the Governor General's Literary Award. Her most recent titles are SNOW (Groundwood Books, Canada) and A SEA-WISHING DAY (Kids Can Press, Canada). Upcoming is A VISITOR FOR BEAR (Candlewick Press).

Kady lives in Ontario, Canada with her husband. She is a member of CANSCAIP (Canadian Society of Children’s Authors, Illustrators and Performers).

Bear doesn't like visitors. He even has a sign to warn them off. So when a small, grey, bright-eyed mouse appears on his doorstep while he's making breakfast, he is furious! And when the unwanted guest turns up again in the cupboard...then in the bread drawer...and then in the tea kettle...Bear is beside himself!

But it seems the cheeky mouse is determined to stay for tea - and it isn't long before Bear is begging his new friend not to leave...
