David began his career with a commission for SPITTING IMAGE. He went on to write and script edit for a variety of TV performers including Jenny Éclair and Frank Skinner.
Along the way David has also adapted a Leslie Thomas novel called THAT OLD GANG OF MINE for Elstree; written a short play for Sir Alan Ayckbourn at the Stephen Joseph Theatre; and worked on numerous animation scripts for children, such as LOGGERHEADS and NORMAN NORMAL.
He was writer/producer for Channel Five’s first comedy series, WE KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE, starring Amanda Holden, Sanjeev Bhaskar and Simon Pegg.
David then spent several years as writer/producer at the BBC with a remit to develop new writing and performing talent. He produced the series BRUISER, part-written by Ricky Gervais and starring Martin Freeman, Olivia Coleman and Mitchell & Webb.
Most recently he adapted 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA for ten-year-olds, published by Oxford University Press in May 2008.
