Amanda Smith

Amanda Smith spent five years writing features for women’s magazines before moving into script-writing. She was taking an MA in Screenwriting at Royal Holloway when she met Paul Abbott who enthused about her writing and encouraged her to develop her own original material. Amanda has just been given a place on the 2008-2009 BBC Drama Academy where 8 selected writers, chosen from hundreds, work across the BBC's long running dramas including DOCTORS, EASTENDERS, HOLBY CITY and CASUALTY. Amanda has also written an original script, 'Addicted', inspired by her own life experiences and is working on series ideas and a book. Paul Abbott describes her writing as ‘thrilling and disturbing in equal measure – but disturbing only for its exceptional quality."
