We are looking for an Agent’s Assistant to join our busy team in Soho as maternity cover. Short term contract, from the end of June 2015.
We are looking for a hard-working, committed individual. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a literary agency or publishing house and should be passionate about fiction and non-fiction for both adults and children. The successful candidate will be very well-organised, have an excellent eye for detail, be able to use their initiative and plan their own time. Good communication skills are a must as the candidate will be working closely with our in-house teams as well as authors and publishers.
- Providing full administrative back-up to the Agent including: dealing with text permission requests, processing contracts, invoicing, arranging meetings, updating the website, database management
- Liaising with in-house departments – keeping them up-to-date with any developments in publishing schedules, publication plans and post-publication news
- Liaising with authors and editors
- Reading and reporting on unsolicited submissions

We run two full-time internships in the Books department, one of which is mostly working with children's books. We are looking for hard-working, committed individuals interested in pursuing a career within a literary agency, willing to turn their hand to a variety of tasks including Reception duties, database management, reader’s reports and processing of contracts, for both adult and children’s authors. Excellent attention to detail, a willingness to learn and a sense of humour are essential. We offer a six-month placement and pay the minimum wage, and in exchange we expect our interns to commit for the full placement.
PLEASE NOTE OUR NEXT INTERNSHIP DOES NOT BEGIN UNTIL AUTUMN 2015.
