Steve Bebow is one of the UK's premier beekeepers. He keeps bees all over the country including London where he has hives on the rooftop of Fortum and Mason. There is a real need for more bees to be kept in cities, where they can better thrive, and it is said that saving the bee population is one of our most urgent ecological challenges. And this year Steve's urban beekeeping revolution stepped up a gear as he installed hives on top of both the Tate Britain and the Tate Modern.
Steve's book The Urban Beekeeper will be published by Square Peg in early 2012. In his spare time Steve teaches beekeeping and he hopes his book will further inspire readers to try beekeeping, or to support their local (urban) beekeeper.
