Jasmine Richards was born in 1981 and grew up in Hornsey, North London. The first in her family to go to university, she graduated with a degree in English. Currently a senior commissioning editor for a children's publisher, she previously wrote storylines for the best-selling series my My Secret Unicorn, Rainbow Magic and Beast Quest.

Jasmine's varied CV has taken her from the BBC World Service to New Scotland Yard, and aged 15 she interviewed former PM Tony Blair as a Newsround Press Packer.

She lives in London and enjoys travelling, cooking and is a dab hand at poker. Her most treasured possession is a picture book about sleeping (another one of her Jasmine's hobbies).

Her forthcoming novel, The Windrose, is a fantastical, action-packed response to the mythology of The Arabian Nights - but this time the sultan doesn't get away with murder.
