Rebecca Lisle was born in Yorkshire. As a child growing up in a house with stone floors and little heating, she was cold most of the time and spent hours in bed reading Enid Blyton, fairy tales, Hornblower books and Dickens.
Rebecca studied Botany at Newcastle University and following that spent a year at Oxford University to qualify to teach. Her first children's novel, Sparks Will Fly, was published by Puffin in 1998.
Rebecca has written many children's books since, including Copper and its sequels Amethyt and Crystal, published by Andersen Press.
Other titles include: The Toad Prince, Dogs Don't Do Dishes, The Dog in the Diamond Collar, The Boy in the Big Black Box (all Andersen Press) and The Curse of the Toads and The Curse of the Ravens (Hodder).
Rebecca lives in Bristol and is married with three boys, a black and white dog and a cat.
