David is now concentrating on writing books for children and teens, but he began his career with a commission for Spitting Image. He went on to write and script edit for a variety of TV performers including Jenny Éclair and Frank Skinner.
Along the way David has also adapted a Leslie Thomas novel called That Old Gang of Mine for Elstree; written a short play for Sir Alan Ayckbourn at the Stephen Joseph Theatre; and worked on numerous animation scripts for children, such as Loggerheads and Norman Normal.
David then spent several years as writer/producer at the BBC developing new writing and performing talent. He produced the series Bruiser, part-written by Ricky Gervais and starring Martin Freeman, Olivia Coleman and Mitchell & Webb.
Most recently he adapted 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea for ten-year-olds, published by Oxford University Press. He is currently writing an action adventure series with an environmental edge.
