Rowan was also chosen to write a short book for publication on World Book Day in March 2006, alongside Nick Hornby and Maeve Binchy. Woman Walks Into A Bar combines the wit and economy of a short story with the emotional satisfaction of a novel.

Rowan's first novel for younger readers Ruby Parker: Soap Star, the story of child soap-star Ruby Parker, was published by HarperCollins Children's Books and the series has continued with Ruby Parker: Film Star, Ruby Parker: Hollywood Star, Ruby Parker: Musical Star and Ruby Parker: Shooting Star.
