Brian Viner is a writer and journalist, predominantly for the Independent newspaper but now freelance. He is the author of five books: Tales of the Country (2005), recently adapted for the stage by Nick Warburton; Ali, Pelé, Lillee and Me (2006); The Pheasants' Revolt (2007); Nice to See It, To See It, Nice (2009); and Cream Teas, Traffic Jams and Sunburn (2011), which was named Best Narrative Travel Book at the 2011 British Travel Press Awards. He is now working on a book about fatherhood, to be published in 2013. He is married to the novelist Jane Sanderson (qv) and lives with his family in Herefordshire.
