When she is not writing children's stories Anna is an academic in the field of of French Literature. She recently held a lectureship at Kings College London where she specialized in French women's writing and is now a Junior Research Fellow at The Queen's College Oxford.
Anna has also trained as a theatre director and in 2004 her devised show, Photo Story, was performed in London and Edinburgh. She has since worked for short spells as a script writer, and drama teacher but is now focussing on her research and her writing for children.
Her first picture book, Dogs Don't Do Ballet, was published by Simon & Schuster in 2010, and was shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize. Her novel, Fantastic Frankie and the Brain Drain Machine, was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children's Book Prize.
