Ann Halam is the pseudonym under which award-winning science fiction writer Gwyneth Jones writes novels for teenagers. Gwyneth was born in Manchester, studied at a local convent school and then at the University of Sussex. In the eighties she spent two years writing scripts for a TV cartoon series called The Telebugs (about three cute newshound robots and their cute robo-puppy). Since then, she has been writing (and occasionally teaching creative writing) full time. In addition to her highly-regarded science fiction novels for adults, she has written more than twenty novels for teenagers, winning the Dracula Society’s Children of the Night Award for her 1995 novel, The Fearman.
