Amol Rajan is a columnist for and Deputy Comment Editor of the Independent. He was previously a news reporter and Sports News Correspondent. Before joining the paper in August 2007, he appeared on Channel 5's The Wright Stuff as mic boy. He studied English at Downing College, Cambridge after spending his gap year at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Amol also works as a volunteer youth worker with Prospex, a charity based in Islington.
Amol's first book, a history of cricket's greatest spin-bowlers entitled Twirlymen, is published by Yellow Jersey Press (Random House).
