Rebecca Lisle was born in Yorkshire. As a child growing up in a house with stone floors and little heating, she was cold most of the time and spent hours in bed reading Enid Blyton, fairy tales, Hornblower books and Dickens.
Rebecca studied Botany at Newcastle University and following that spent a year at Oxford University to qualify to teach.
Rebecca has written many children’s books, including Copper, Amethyst and Crystal, published by Andersen Press.
Other titles include: The Toad Prince, Dogs Don’t Do Dishes, The Dog in the Diamond Collar (all Andersen) and The Curse of the Toads and The Curse of the Ravens (Hodder).
Her middle-grade fantasies, The Spin and Brightling, were published by Hot Key Books.
Maverick publish her picture books Stone Underpants and Game of Stones.
