Martha Lightfoot

Martha Lightfoot has been illustrating children’s books since 2005.

As a child she made endless books but she forgot about this passion after her Art Foundation course, and got sidetracked into studying History of Art, and having a glorious time in Italy.

Fortunately whilst doing her MA in Venetian Art History she remembered her childhood dream and made her way back to it, making detours to sew children’s fancy dress costumes, make props for films, and design greetings cards along the way.

The first book she illustrated was One Lucky Duck (Alison Maloney, Meadowside Books) and she went on to illustrate more books for Meadowside, Pearson and Child’s Play.

Other books include the popular Busy Wheels series by Mandy Archer and Peter Bently (QED).

Now that her children are at school she has started writing as well as illustrating.

Martha lives with her husband, three children and imaginary animals in Gloucestershire, and is mostly to be found in her studio at the end of the garden.
