Professor Helen Parr is a historian of modern Britain, currently based at Keele University. She studied at Cambridge and Queen Mary, University of London, where she took her Ph.D. Before moving to Keele she was a Tutorial Fellow in International History at LSE.

Helen’s first book, Our Boys (Allen Lane / Penguin) is a study of the Parachute Regiment in the Falklands War and the nature of combat.

Our Boys was awarded the 2019 Longman/History Today Book Prize, the Templer Medal by the Society for Army Historical Research, and the Duke of Wellington Medal for Military History. It was also longlisted for the 2019 Orwell Prize.
