Dominic Green was born in London in 1970. He read English Literature at Oxford University and then became a professional guitar player. He has played and recorded with many world-famous artists, including Burt Bacharach, Elvis Costello and Dionne Warwick. Currently he is studying the history of religion at Harvard University.

His first book was the critically acclaimed The Double Life of Doctor Lopez, which was published by Century. His second book, Armies of God: Islam and Empire on the Nile, 1869-1899 was also published by Century and as Three Empires on the Nile: The Victorian Jihad, 1869-1899 by Free Press in the USA. His most recent book, The Religious Revolution: The Birth of Modern Spirituality, 1848-1898, was published in April 2022 by Farrar, Straus and Giroux.
