David Nott is one of the world’s foremost experts in the field of combat and trauma surgery. A consultant general and vascular surgeon affiliated with several London hospitals, David has spent several weeks or months of almost every year since the mid-1990s volunteering for aid agencies in war zones. From his first experience in Sarajevo under siege in 1993, he has travelled to places like Sierra Leone, Liberia, Darfur, Iraq, Afghanistan and most recently Syria. He has also volunteered to assist after major natural disasters like the earthquakes in Haiti in 2010 and Nepal in 2015.
In 2016 David was given a Special Recognition award for his volunteer work at the Pride of Britain Awards.
David is now putting together a charitable organisation to help disseminate the knowledge and skills he has acquired to other doctors, the David Nott Foundation, and is also working on a memoir of his experiences. Nine Lives will be published by Macmillan in 2018.
