When she is not writing children’s stories, Anna is a lecturer at Queen Mary University of London where she teaches French Literature.
Her first picture book, Dogs Don’t Do Ballet, illustrated by Sara Ogilvie, was published by Simon & Schuster and was shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize, as was The Worst Princess. Other picture books include Rhinos Don’t Eat Pancakes and, most recently, Sir Lilypad which was shortlisted for Oscar’s book prize in 2016.
Her picture books have been adapted for television (CBeebies, Bookaboo), puppetry (Little Angel), dance (Ballet Black), theatre (New Writing North, Blunderbus) and musical performance (LSO).
Her first novel, Fantastic Frankie and the Brain Drain Machine, was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize.
