Alex Pillai

Alex was born in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, and has been making films since he was fourteen.

After graduating from the National Film and Television School, Alex has directed many leading dramas for British television, including the BAFTA-nominated first series of Being Human, along with Merlin and Robin Hood for the BBC. Crime dramas include Trial and Retribution for Lynda La Plante, Val McDermid’s Wire in the Blood, and Paul Abbott’s Touching Evil. For BBC Films he directed The Wyvern Mystery starring Naomi Watts, and the feature film Flight, which won the Ethnic Multicultural Media Award. His urban thriller, Victim, was shown at cinemas nationwide.

Alex has recently begun writing fiction, for children and young adults.
