Alastair Humphreys

After training as a teacher, Alastair spent four years cycling around the world, 46,000 miles, 60 countries. He has written books on the experience for adults Moods of Future Joys and also for children The Boy who Biked the World parts 1,2 & 3. Since then, he has undertaken numerous other adventures, not least; rowing the Atlantic, crossing Iceland on foot and packraft and taking part in an expedition to the Arctic which included creating digital content and uploading to the internet from a tent. He made a film of his journey trekking across The Empty Quarter in the footsteps of Wilfred Thesiger which was highly regarded at Banff.

More recently he has pioneered the concept of Microadventures, also published as a book of the same name by Harper Collins.
